East Tennessee summers are long, warm, and wet, which is exactly what mosquitoes love. A mosquito can lay eggs in a bottle cap of standing water, so small changes make a big difference.
Your weekly 10-minute checklist
- Dump water from flower pot saucers, buckets, and toys.
- Change bird bath water twice a week.
- Clean clogged gutters.
- Flip over wheelbarrows and kiddie pools.
- Check tarps and grill covers for puddles.
Trim the shady spots
Mosquitoes rest in tall grass and thick shrubs during the day. Keeping your lawn mowed and shrubs trimmed gives them fewer places to hide.
When to call a pro
If you've done the checklist and you still can't sit outside in the evening, a monthly mosquito treatment can help. We treat the shady resting spots where mosquitoes hide, from April through October.
