Most deposit charges come from the same few places: the kitchen, the bathroom, and the floors. Clean these well and you have a much better chance of getting every dollar back.
Kitchen
- Inside and outside of the fridge, including the drawers.
- Inside the oven and under the burners.
- Inside every cabinet and drawer.
- Counters, backsplash, and sink.
- The front of the dishwasher and microwave.
Bathrooms
- Toilet, including the base and behind it.
- Tub, shower, and tile grout.
- Mirror, sink, and cabinet inside and out.
- Exhaust fan cover.
Every room
- Baseboards and door frames.
- Light switches and outlet covers.
- Window sills and blinds.
- Closet shelves.
- Vacuum and mop every floor last.
Take photos when you're done
Walk through with your phone and take photos of every room. If there's ever a question about your deposit, you'll have proof.
