Brakes are one of the most important safety parts on your car, and they're good at telling you when something is wrong. You just have to know what the sounds mean.
High-pitched squeal
Most brake pads have a small metal tab that squeals when the pads are getting thin. It's a reminder, not an emergency, but it's time to book a brake check.
Grinding or growling
Grinding usually means the pads are worn down to metal. This damages the rotors quickly and makes the repair cost more. Get it checked right away.
Soft or spongy pedal
If the pedal sinks lower than normal, there may be air or a leak in the brake lines. This is a safety issue, so please don't wait.
Pulling to one side
If your car pulls when you brake, a caliper may be sticking or your pads may be wearing unevenly.
